Landmannalaugar, sometimes called a jewel in the interior. It is in Fjallabak nature reserve in the central highlands of Iceland. Landmannalaugar are known for natural beauty and a colorful mountains of yellow, red, blue and green rhyolite volcanic rock.
The Torfajökull area is one of Iceland’s largest high-temperature areas. There are many hot and cold springs that form a natural pools where people bathe.
We will drive on mountain-routes through lava fields, created by the most famous and active volcano of Iceland, mount Hekla. Experience spectacular scenery, crater and volcanoes in a moonlike landscape.
In Landmannalaugar it’s ideal to go for a short hike in the lava fields, if people are comfortable with easy hike. You have the option to bathe in a natural hot pool in the area, so bring your bathing suit and a towel.
We will take a different route back to Reykjavik. Along the way, we will visit Ljótipollur, a volcanic crater and stop at the second highest waterfall Háifoss (122 m / 400 ft ) and we also have the opportunity to visit the Old Viking Farm to see how the vikings lived in former days.
We pass the historical Þjórsárdalur valley and travel through the fertile and cultivated southern Iceland on our way to Reykjavik.
